Susan Braley lives in Victoria, BC. Her poetry collection Tilling the Darkness is set in rural Southern Ontario, where she grew up. Her poetry is included in Best Canadian Poetry 2023, and was nominated for the 2022 National Magazine Award in Poetry. Her poems have also appeared in the literary journals Antigonish Review, Arc Poetry Magazine, Contemporary Verse 2, The New Quarterly, and Prairie Fire, among others; and in anthologies such as Walk Myself Home and Poems from Planet Earth. Before moving to Victoria, Susan lived in London, Ontario, where she taught literature and women’s studies at Fanshawe College and Western University.
